Sooooo I've been getting a weird sound from what seems like front right side of cab on acceleration at low rpm (1500-3000), when I'm in a low gear (4th or 5th) or the engine is under load. Any clue what this sound could be?
Its a 1992 single cab pickup, 22re, 2wd. Transmission fluid is full, as is the diff. Clutch fluid was recently bled and replaced, firmed up the clutch nicely but the problem has been underlying before then. Heres a video (listen in 1080p), its that orbital grinding sound above pitch from the exhaust, its kind of hard to hear on the first acceleration but when i blip the throttle you can clearly hear it increase.
And the part about kate upton may have been false... but you could help a poor college student! Thanks for any suggestions!

Are your brakes any less responsive? I've heard of rocks and debris getting lodged in them resulting in some nasty grind.. Is your transmission starting to bite the dust? It sounds like when you shift wrong or dry shift and it results in a grind.

Brakes are still good, it only happens when im in a higher gear than i probably should be, and accelerating, so the engine is under load. she still shifts smooth even when cold so i dont think its the tranny

 

Check everything underneath the truck. Ujoints/bolts, front suspension, driveshaft, anything and everything. When you're in too high of a gear, things get rattled a bit more, so it could possibly be a loose or worn piece.

 

check trans and engine mounts too. couldnt really hear that grinding noise in the video, seems like all i could hear is what sounds like exhaust. you getting any increase in vibration?

 

make video a tad longer....and add video of kate....

Ok, will do this evening. I will add another video as well, its hard to hear over the exhaust but when i get on it the second time you can hear it creep up like a sqeaky turbo haha. Trans mount has recently been replaced, motor mounts are stock i believe. Will probably be switching the drivers side with a new poly mount like this thread says (https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f123...mounts-232595/). I wish i still had my gopro

 

well if the noise is increasing with engine RPMs then its engine related. checking driveline would be pointless at that point. if the noise increases with speed then you should check driveline. does it do it while sitting and revving?

 

and from what you are telling us about it happening more at low rpm under heavy acceleration leads me to believe it engine related too.

 

What component of the motor would lead to that kind of noise? Ill make a longer video on my way home today that should rule out some things. I don't think it is motor because it only happens in that certain situation, but it very well could be as it has 205k miles and i will be replacing the timing chain within the month.
