1998 Tacoma Prerunner 2.7L leaking crank seal
I've got a 98 tacoma with a 2.7L 3RZFE and 140,000 miles.
It's leaking oil behind the crankshaft pulley. My plan was to replace the three belts and put on a new Crank seal. A couple weeks ago, someone suggested replacing the waterpump and timing belt as well. But I just found out that the 2.7L engines have a timing chain not a belt. So should I still change the timing change and water pump? Anything else?
thanks

im pretty sure my runner has never had a timing chain done or a water pump but if you have to pull that stuff off to get down there and if the parts to replace them aren't to expensive then it might be a good idea to replace them

Unlike several other motors, You do not need to remove either the timing chain or water pump to get at the crank seal on the 3rz. You should look at the drive belts though as they"ll all have to come off to get the job done
