Tacoma Rims on a '93?: Also, Shank Lug or Acorn?
I'm thinking about putting some 16 x 7 Tacoma/4runner (3rd gen) aluminum rims on my '93 xtra cab. Would it be a straight swap? No "fitment" issues? I notice that they are available in two different lug nut configurations, acorn, and shank with washer. Is either type ok as long as I use the right nuts? Thx

As ling as you use the right nuts you should be fine but newer Tacoma wheels have more a of a positive off set so it may possibly rub since they push the wheel more inwards. But I think you'll be ok.

I just noticed tha tacoma wheels have 5.25" backspacing. I think that's 1/2" more than the '86 - '95 trucks. I'd rather go in the other direction (less backspacing). Maybe wheel spacers are in order. Used Tacoma wheels are often less costly than new steel crawlers, but spacers would raise the cost fer sher.

i had 07 tacoma 17's for awhile on my 4runner, they tucked completely, so i ended up getting 1.5 inch wheel spacers all the way around. The wheel spacers are very expensive, i would just recommend buying the right wheels instead. If you decide to go the spacer route, go through wabfab, he's great.
