I find that it's usually the simple stuff for me. Or it's stuff that I messed with previously.

When I finished my rebuild my engine would stumble randomly at about 2400-2800 in 4th and fifth gear. It ended up being vacuum lines, and a slight vacuum leak at the bottom of the carb riser plate. I really had to concentrate on knowing what item was what and I had to stick to the diagram on the sticker under my hood. The ones in the manuals I had were confusing as hell. At seemed to be missing parts. Verify and double check that's all good.

Fuel filter? Plugs, cap, rotor? Timing?

I'm not a good mechanic, but I know enough to look at what I messed with previously and correct the mistakes I made the first time. That's usually 70% of my problems. Actually, since the rebuild its 90%. Then I start with the simple stuff and work to the more complicated.
