Question 93 Pickup 22re Exhaust (help)

Hey guys I've been browsing yotatech for a while now and it has helped me solve many problems but this is my very first post. I've seen people with flowmasters on there yotas on youtube, and I know a 4 banger will never sound like a v8 but I want a little more rumble to it. Can I just buy the flowmaster 40 or 44 and attach it with stock pipes or should I replace the whole system?

Depending on the exhaust. I have a 87 pickup. My truck is a 22r. I am running a Tri Y header from there I have a 2 1/4 pipe going into a magnaflow cat. From there I got a 2 1/4 pipe going into a single in dual out flow master 40 series exhaust. My tailpipes are 2". Your going to have a really similar tone to mine if you went with the same setup only your manifold won't make it exact. IMO I'd replace it all. Just my opinion tho. Here is a link to a video with my truck. You can here the sound here. ( gotta ignore the grinding tranny ) its about shot....

Replacing the whole system shouldn't be a problem for me but how much did it cost you?

I believe it was around 225.00 for everything but my header. I bought the header off eBay. Mine was done at 21 custom exhaust in Ripley WV. You could probably have it done cheaper if you buy your own exhaust and cat off eBay instead of getting it all from a shop

That's not a bad cost at all. Does it have a nice idle too? That's one of the deciding factors for me.

Yeah it's got a really nice tone. I think it's sounds like a small V8 in person. My truck lopes on idle do to carb and cam but yeah it's got a rumble
