lost 1st gear on 5speed manual

was slipping out of 1st gear, but now i have to hold it in place. replacing the transmission with a spare one i have. question is, can a heavy shifter knob help in making this problem? a have a B&M "T" handle shift knob and i was wondering if that added to the problem.

Try these first, you've got nothing to lose if it doesn't work since you can just pop them in your new replacement tranny anyways.

Its slipping out of first because a syncronizer is bad. Comes from banging 1-2 shift too hard. Nothing to do with shifter knob. Just the nob doing the shifting!! lol.
