Thinking about buying another Toyota. One or two questions...

Hello everyone,

It's been a few years since I've frequented this forum, I sold my 94 4runner opting for a larger truck. But I've missed it since I sold it and I'm finally ready for a "new" vehicle.

I'm looking at tacomas, and I found a 97 xtracab v6 4wd. One pretty big holdup that I have is that it has 217k on the odo. Is this anything to worry about on this engine? How high will these engines typically go before they crap out? Besides the mileage, I do know about the frame rust issue to keep an eye on, is there anything else with these trucks to keep an eye on?

Thanks for any help you guys can give, I'm excited about coming back to a toyota.

:jessica: It all comes down at least for me the over all appearance of the vehicle and just what your going to use it for.

Where those miles put on in city driving ??

Was the truck taken care of as far as normal maintenance . Coming up on the time to do the timing belt again if it was not just done.

might be the reason it is for sale?/

You could get into major suspension and brake work etc.

The codes could be cleared only to show up again when the tests are run again.

It all comes down to price and what skills you have and just how much of a project you want to get into.:jessica:
