cluch/trans help!

pulled my tranny to replace my clutch, being an apprentice mechanic, i just had to tear into my tranny to see how it is, everything was good!, sealed her up, put a new clutch in, threw the tranny up and put the shifters on and noticed i couldent shift into any gears. i can move the shifter arround like its in neutral, but cant get it into gear. anny ideas?

If you took the tranny apart, and attempted to put it back together without FSM, you're mental. There are to many little pieces that can pop out of place, and give the symptoms exactly as you have described.

It may be as simple as a clutch adjustment(slave arm, or master/pedal arm, fluid bled), but can't say for sure. How does the pedal feel? Will it go into gear with engine off?

If the clutch isn't disengaging, it would prob go into gear with engine off, then once you tried to start it, it would want to take off. If it still won't go into gear with engine off and a little rocking back and forth(to move gears in trans for alignment), then I would probably guess its internal probs in the trans. That's my thoughts...

Are your shifter seat/sockets in good shape? I presume it's a linkage problem?

shifter seat seemed ok, pins in the shifter retainer had a tiny amount of movement but still useable, i wonder if the restrict pins on the side of the shift houseing could be in the wrong sides? would that be an issue?.. im trying to trouble shoot throught this site so i dont have to pull the tranny down again.
Ps thanks for the help !
