Considering buying a 95 2wd runner. Have some questions.

Well as the title states I have found a 95 SR5 3.0 Auto 4 runner. Being an auto I am assuming its 2wd because from what I have seen you couldn't get the auto/4wd in 95. The truck is in fantastic shape with only minor surface rust on the frame and none on the body. Its got all power options. The only thing is it has a noise in the engine that the owner says he thinks to be a valve out of adjustment. I am not too worried about it because worse comes to worse I have a spare 3vze laying in the shop. My question is are 2wd runners anywhere near as desirable the 4wds. I am considering this as a flipper vehicle to fund some other projects. The price to me seems good as its well under $1000. I'm just looking for some thoughts as its a ways from me and I don't want to chase it down if I'll never be able to sell it. Thanks Guys.

4wd is more desirable and valuable for sure. could be swapped pretty easy though.
more details, mileage pics etc.

sounds like you can't lose at that price, 3.0 is easy to swap.
noisy engine = cheap price.

If it's an SR5 it likely is a 4wd. if you look inside next to the gear shifter there should be another shifter to the left of it. thats for shifting in and out of 4wd

Not even remotely true, I had a 95 v6 auto 4x4 They were pretty common.

Actually the other way around, the 2wd's were rare.

And for sure in 95 the flex plate bolt pattern was 8 bolts. But some of the manual trans 3vz's had a 6 bolt fly, and the auto's had an 8 bolt flex. So the motors may not be swappable. Depends on the year I guess, And whats better is nobody knows why

Heres a thread on it, not that theres any info about why.

Sorry for the lack of info guys. It has right at 170k on it. It is for sure an sr5. I haven't seen any pictures of the inside yet so I can't check for the shifters. My 3.0 has the 8 bolt crank so that should be ok. Thanks so much for the info. If I can find some time to get away I will go look at it this weekend. Ill let you know!
