hello! i,m new here but ive been reading the forum for a long time. well, my 2000 tacoma 2wd got totaled a few months ago, and ive been looking for a new one. I would really like a 1st gen tacoma extra cab 4x4 2.7l auto, but it turns out they are almost impossible to find! I found a really clean 1992 pickup 4x4 5 speed and thinking about it, didnt really want a standard but might get in anyways. any suggestions? is the 22re under power compared to the 2.7? thanks

 

Most definitely less power than the 2.7 . Mine barely gets out of its own way. Great mileage though.

 

Yeah not as much power, if you still have what I am guessing was a 2RZ, you might want to look into swapping it into the new rig, then you have the best of both worlds, power, 4x4 and of course the classic looks of the 92.
