Found 2000 4runner 3.4 5speed couple ?'s before I check it out

Waiting on some more pictures if all looks good I'm going to go check it out and pick it up.

It has 120k miles don't know yet if original timing belt and water pump. (another reason I thought about 2.7 5 speed got 250k on mine like those chains!). The ball joints are normally a weaker part on these right?

I'd like to check the compression but doubt I will be able to, going to check 4 high and low, see how clutch and tranny feel with a good driving test. Anything else you can think of?

Check oil, coolant, and all around for leaks.

Talking

you don`t say where you are!!

Are you in the great salt belt??

Could this have been driven only in the real nasty weather??

look at the over all condition.

look at the frame but also look at the fuel and brake lines While your under there look at the exhaust system California or federal that can be expensive to replace if you also need senors.

Make sure the E- brake works like it should .

it is no big deal to pull the upper timing cover off and look at the belt. I have done this on quite a few

Slide the top hose clamp towards radiator a few inches your good to slide the cover enough to look.

Look at the belts and all the hoses .

If this has service stickers from some place look and check to make sure the drain plugs are not rounded off

Make sure the CEL is not lite but that it works real easy to clear codes and hope to dump vehicle before it comes back on.

Look to see if electrical devices were added and if it was done correct or hacked.

If you are into a perfect looking body make sure the doors and fenders are fitted proper with no big gaps between right and left sides. Do the magnet check for bondo.

Really it is just a common sense approach if you have all ready made up your mind your getting this one!!!

4 different size and brand tires will not be noticed until you get it home and only then see just what you have.

Good luck!!!:jessica::jessica:

+2 on checking the fluids. a good eye will tell you if theyve ever intermingled inappropriately so to say. timing belt is good to check, but if you dont here any noise out of the idlers, its fine, myself and plenty others have seen those belts go waaaayyyy past 100k (i know a guy with 190k on his lol). if you want, have him start it up and watch the tail-pipe for any smoke. take a peek inside the oil filler cap to spot any sludge build-up, if hes been using el-cheapo walmart dyno oil, its gonna have sludge.
