88 4x4 pickup sr5 original rear bumper !WANTED!

Hello guys i am in the final way to completely restore my sr5 1988 toy. The problem is that my grandfather took the rear bumper off many years ago to put a tube bumper. Now i need the bumper and i cant find it anywhere, even in the web. The only one i find is the 90's bumper. You guys know a web or a place i can find it?

Should get them off of ebay. Actually fairly cheap. Have you tried them?

In ebay the only ones i have found are the 90's bumper. Here in PR the bumper must of the model so it can completely pass as classic. I cant put the dlx bumper, i need the one that has the black covers like in the front.

You just needing covers? I am not home in the states right now. I think I know what you are talking about. I have a bumper but it is bent but the covers are good I think.

I couldnt find the bumper on ebay that I think you are talking about.

Wink

Your only option unless you get real lucky is to have one custom made .Idon`t know if that would work as it is not factory .

There is no way you are going to find one at the dealer.

I wish you good luck!!!:wabbit2:

My buddy had a HELL of a time finding one... His was competition/Back to the Future Showroom clean... But he couldn't find one to save his life. He ended up with a FEY, like this one, for the time being... LINK

....Then some guy, apparently knowing what he had(NOT A DING on it), got 300$ out of him for it(not bad for OEM/Pulled when new/PERFECT condition).

Someone AT the dealer told me that the FEY is what they order for some people, as they're most like OEM..... Seems like that's what comes up 90% of the time when I'm searching, too.......

I didnt know they would be that hard to find. I think I will take mine to someplace that can straighten it out. It has a little push/twist to it.

All the sr5 trucks came with it? I think some trucks sr5 came with the standard bumper. I have never seen a truck with that bumper here in PR. I know about it because my grandfater told me the truck came with it and the truck was imported from New Jersey. Why they are so rare?

PR? As in Puerto Rico? I ask because, .... well, not sure how limited TOYOTA parts would be... but YEAH, I would figure very specific things like that would be difficult in that area.

Anyway, can you get a model number from the Dealer, even through they can't just order up some 'Old/New' Stock in the back? If you could, then you might be able to hit up Nix69(whatever it's called), or other wrecking-Networks and see if someone can find one for ya.... I would LITERALLY FORGET ebay on this one... Maybe keep eyes open on occasion there... but otherwise... not likely. CL, maybe, but nationwide.. That sure lengthens the list to around 300 pages to search through each time, right? So yeah, I would say the 'YARD CALL' needs to be sent out, throughout the network, if you need it that badly.

PS> Is this an emissions thing, in combination with, well, wanting the coolness of 'classic'? So you don't have to have it in for smog testing any more?

Actually Puerto Rico has a lot of TOYOTA dealers and we can find any part for theam easy and cheap. Is the best car company sold here. Here old toys has reputation to be indestructible and have a high value. My truck right now can be easy sold for $7,000 and with the right buyer looking for one the 8,000 should be no problem and that is with 135,00 miles. The thing with the bumper is that here the judjes can clasify a vehicle by classic, classic modified, historic and antique. To my truck be classic i need to have all original or a replaces part that is exactly as the oem. If i put the basic bumper they will no classifies it as classic because the bumper is attached to the frame by weld and it will be claassic modified. Its kindy tricky because with my bj spacer and 3 inch block in the back is classic because is not a permanen part added or welded.I can remove it easy as oppose to the bumper. I want the classic license plate because i will pay only 1 dollar for my car license and if i have a accident in wich the truck is totaled, they will pay me the original brand new price of my truck with is around 11,000.
