Unhappy maybe big electrical problem

I have a 1992 pickup 22re 4x4 5spd. Ok so I am leaving on a camping trip tomorrow morning and I have spent all last week getting a new 12v outlet installed and a light for my cap wired in. I dont drive it but maybe once a month for a day or so and camping trips. Anyway over my lunch at work I went home to load stuff into the truck and get it ready to go so I dont have to do as much later or tomorrow morning. Well I went to move the truck and it will not start. The door buzzer worked till I went to crank it and then a click and everything went off. I figured a dead battery so I hooked it to my car and I still dont even get the door buzzer. It wont crank, no dash gauges work, radio doesn't work, dome light doesn't work, horn not working and this is when its connected to the car for a jump. I have power to my new switches but they are wired to the battery. To me it shounds like the battery is shot but shouldn't I be able to jump it from another car? Also on my new switches they have lights on them, when they are on and I press the horn they dim and almost go out but no sound from the horn. I connected a volt meter to my battery after disconnecting the jumpers and it shows me getting between 12 and 13 volts but also will drop to 0 for a second and go back up. I would just like to get some input on what you guys think it could be since im in a time crunch.

Wink

You did have your battery disconnected when wiring up your new electrical goodies??

Did you leave your new lights on a week??

How long did you leave it charge with the car hooked up

Maybe the battery did just die the final death.

Sounds like a blown Fusible link

Sounds like you got a switch wired wrong. The door buzzer fuse is one in the drivers kick panel. Check your 80 amp fuse and the rest of the fuses also.

Hey thanks for the replies. So I disconnected all my extras from the battery and the truck fired right up. But after I turn it off and went to start it it wouldn't start again. So I loosened the terminal and tightened it again and the truck started. So it appears to be a bad connection to the battery. I took it to AutoZone and had them test it and it tested ok and did say the terminal didn't look good. Thanks for the input.
