Wanting to avoid issues.

I have an '89 4Runner with a knock. I got a '95 3.0 with a blown head gasket and 125 k miles.

I'd like to rebuild the '95 engine and put it in my '89.

It looks like there are some subtle differences. What issues may I run into?

If I strip the '95 engine down to long block will everything from the '89 bolt up?

Thanks.

Both 3.0? Otherwise, lots is different!

They are both 3.0s. The one in the truck still runs and gets driven, it just has a knock. I just am hoping to rebuild the '95 engine and swap it in the '89 to avoid downtime.

Figured, had to ask! Blocks should be same, I think there was a guy here that did the same thing, had a little issue with motor mounts, or something nearby them. Can't hurt to measure! And use all the '89 doodads. Or delete as needed.
