thermowhat? OH NO!!!

I got a heating problem. I was driving down I70 today- it was cold out i was up at elevation- doing between 60- 80 and all the sudden my temp gauge goes strait to cold, like i just started it for the first time that day. could this be a thermostat or what?

oh btw- when it read cold- my heat wasnt as hot as usual- just a little cooler.

Thanks!

Just starting my learning with 4runners, so there's a good chance I'm wrong, but it sounds like the thermostat could be stuck open.

Does it warm up now or just stay cold?

I agree. It could be a sending unit. If the thermostat stuck open, your engine would never warm up. Did the heater cool down? We've needed the heat the last couple days unlike last week How about your other gauges? Do they work? If not, it's a fuse. I popped a fuse when wheeling at Slaughterhouse a couple months ago. The gauge indicated 'cold' and I had no tach.

Shoot me a PM if you want help tracking it down.
