New stereo for the 83

What have other people done? My dash is already cut up so I'm not worried about that. I was just going to order a new stereo (cd with mp3 hookup) and see how it goes, but I figured I throw it out there to this group first. Obviously the fit won't be perfect, but will a modern stereo more or less fit in the modified stock location, then just some wire splicing, or what?

Thanks.

Yes, but you'll need to get creative with the mounting of it.

Yeah, that's what I figured...

It has a cd player in there now. Just a cheapy Pioneer from probably the early 2000's. Just curious if the newest ones are much bigger than the one in there already or not. If they haven't changed much, size wise, since about 10 years ago, I should be fine.

Thanks.

I just replaced my really old one with a brand new one and it fit exactly the same, so it will fix unless your getting one of those that have the touch screens.

i just picked up one of these to use in my trekker
$89 delivered..

i am thinking of mounting under the dash where the oil pressure and volt gauges are mounted.
I will pick up a multipin connector so I can pop it in and out.
I would be pissed if it gets ripped off (if I forget to remove it) but at least they won't destroy my dash..

That looks nice. Ok, thanks everyone. Even the Utahn! I've spent a little time in Bountiful.

I know somebody on here put their cd player in the vents under the dash, above the oil & volt gauges. I kind of like that vent, and my stock gauges, so I'll keep them how they are and go with the stock location since it sounds like any normal stereo will fit there.

Thanks!
