5S-FE into '92 Hi-Lux 4y
Good day,
I'm new to this forum and need to know if anybody has built a '92 (South African) Camry engine (5S-FE) into a '92 (South African) Hi-Lux 2.2 Petrol 4x4 double cab pick up (4Y engine). The Hilux is still factory standard.
Points that might cause problems are;
1. the 5S-FE engine is fitted at an angle in the Camry. Can this angle be maintained in the Hilux?
2. What about the flywheel, clutch kit and pilot bearing?
3. What about the bell housing and or adapter plate?
4. What about the the input shaft's length?
As you might gather, I am from South Africa and I have searched the Web, but have not found any information on such a transplant yet. I am hoping that someone here has either done something like this or knows about another forum or something on the Net where I can find info.
Thanks in advance for any info.
Shalom

It would be a whole lot of work for no gains. You are better finding a diesel motor to swap in or some thing that is set up as a rear wheel drive. That camry motor is set up to be front wheel drive and its just gonna be to weak to push a truck.
