22re shortblock into a 83 pickup, no efi?

first question
blew the headgasket on the 83's engine, but i have access to a rebuilt 88 22re(assemblied shortblock-block and head) i dont have the efi stuff however so i am wondering if i can swap just the block and head into the 83?

second
i actually have the manifolds with sensors for the 88 22re but dont have the ecu or harness, sold them awhile back in order to convert the truck to efi i would need to source the hard to find 88 ecu and harness and what else?

thanks in advance

The 22r blocks are the same. Just use the sensors and intake/exhaust manifold from the 83 on the 88 block.

Why are you swapping motors over a blown head gasket?

the block and heads are usable or just the block?

i have a freshly rebuilt 22re sitting here doing nothing from a previous truck, i realize a head gasket isnt that big of a deal, but the engine has alot of miles and sending the head out is a pain. if i could just swap what i have already this would be ideal

Makes sense. Wouldn't hurt to freshen it up with new gaskets and seals all the way around and a new clutch if it's been a while.
