Strengthen you factory roof rack, add another elevated crossbar!

I am a Carpenter and load lumber on the rack weekly. They flatten out under the load an it occurred to me that I could easily add another elevated crossbar. I bought a rack at a local yard for $20. The load is now supported by 3 bars instead of 2. It's an easy solution and keeps the factory look.

That's a pretty good idea! Does the middle sit level with the front and back?

Oh and did you use the front one or back one or did it matter?

It doesn't matter which one you use, they are both the same. I placed the old extra one in the middle because I painted it and it didn't look as nice as the others. It sits about 1/2 higher in the middle, but that is probably because mine have flattened out a little. When loaded they all will compress and it will support the load more evenly.
