Timing set correctly, but dizzy almost maxed?

Like the title says, I've set my timing to FSM specs for my 22r @ 0 degrees with advance lines pulled and it jumps to about 12 degrees btdc when i hook the lines back up. the problem is that the dizzy is almost rotated all the way towards the back of the motor. I have a little room left but I've heard that it should be in the middle if everything is installed correctly? Am I just being paranoid or is something wrong? I recently did a timing chain but checked the marks about 20 times before closing it up and all was good. Dizzy off a tooth maybe or would that throw me way out of whack if it was off?

I just found my truck although the 3vze had this issue among others, and my cam gears were off 4the teeth on one gear and 1 tooth on the other. I think if you checked your cam marks and they are good possibly your dist off a tooth or so.

On my 22re it is easy to get the dizzy one tooth off. I am betting that is what happened to you.

You're off a tooth.

off a tooth, or the crank pulley has shifted and the timing mark is not correct.

man i didn't think of that. i should of checked that before torquing the crank bolt i'm gonna try restabbing the distributor tonight to see if that changes anything. does it really matter since it runs great and timing is within specs? don't get me wrong, i want it to be done correctly but if moving it a tooth takes it out of adjustment range, am i really doing any harm?

well i'm definitely not off a tooth. one tooth in either direction won't let me even get close to proper timing. weird. i checked the cam/crank timing many times before closing her up but i suppose i'll pop the v/c off and take a peek at that again. i guess if that's good pull the crank bolt and make sure the elastomeric hasn't taken a poop and let the mark slide........thanks for the help guys. not too worried as she is running great......
