170 Amp Alternator Upgrade?

170 Amp Alternator Upgrade?
I'm somewhere between the planning stage and the built stage on my truck, but one thing I have been eyeing is a 170-amp Powermaster Alternator for my '93 v6. I'm planning on running several off-road lights, a better stereo system, a 2000W inverter, and whatever else I can think to plug in. Plus my stock alternator's getting pretty tired and why not upgrade?
I guess that's the question I'm asking ... why not upgrade? Has anyone either done this swap before or used an aftermarket alternator with these trucks? I just know how picky they are when it comes to OEM stuff and I don't' want to fork over the $$$ for a beefy alternator that wont work right. I'm not an electrician either so to those of you that are 'electrically inclined,' if you see any other issues with the higher amperage on a tired system, please speak up!
In my search I found this article on the same swap they did on the 4cyl. (http://www.minitruckinweb.com/tech/e...ade/index.html)

There's a bunch of hidden write ups in there, all of them good. But they all involve some medium mods. From what I can tell, this Powermaster seems to bolt right up with a single spacer. My only question would be does it work on the V6. I could probably figure that out, but I thought I'd take the lazy route and ask the pro's first

So from what I can tell, this just bolts right up (almost). There's 110 Amps at idle too.

But they're saying you'll need the adapter too. I don't remember what my plug looks like. Look familiar to anybody?
