I have done a little searching but didn't find much. Ok so i have a 79 with a 20r. I have replaced the water pump,radiator,thermostat in the last 6 months. it keeps losing water. i have to refill it every other day. There is no water in the oil or water in the oil. The exhaust smells normal to me. some time the bottom rad hose will suck it self together and then it gets super hot. It wont do it unless the heater is not on. I was think it might be a head gasket but it dosen't have any sign of it.

 

Replaced the radiator cap? I'd use a Toyota one. Could be not venting properly and causing vaccum. I'd also replace that radiator hose. They can collapse when they're in otherwise good condition, but they shouldn't...

Is your heater core leaking? If there are no drips under the truck, and you're convinced it's not burning it, that's where I'd look. Having to replace fluid every other day is a LOT of fluid. I wouldn't think it would be too hard to find where it's going...

 

Get a cooling system compression tester and adapter for the radiator neck. Eliminate the guesswork, pressurize the system, and look for your leak.

 

I think i found my problem. I found kitty litter i'm the bottom of my I'M where the water runs threw it. I don't know why is was there. I bought a top end gasket kit. So im going to but the head back on with a new head gasket and see how it goes.

ya i talked to him last night he said he found cat litter inside his intake when he took the head off. he did the hg but the problem it has now is that it dont over heat but he thinks that it dont circulate water very well he just did the water pump and new rad. he says that cause the bottom of his rad is hot but the top is stays cool i figured his rad was plugged or it was a thermostat

 

Plugged with kitty litter, maybe...Wow.
