centering 6 stud knuckles????

I bought the 6 shooter knuckles, cross over steering, and axle rebuild kit for 400 bucks. But now im stuck because my brother in law didnt write down the amount of shims were on each side. And every where i search everyone says that the bottom cap centers the knuckle on the axle and the top adjusts the preload. Some people say to have the same amiunt of shims on the top AND bottom, while others say to use one thick and one thin shim on bottom and to just play with the amount on the top. My question is, how do i know if my knuckle is centered and then do i use the same shims on top?

This question was asked within the past week. See if you can find it. They were asking about the drag.

Check 4crawler's website.
