I have a 1988 toyota pickup short bed that has a gash on the passenger side of the bed and was wondering if i could swap a new model say 95 and older bed onto my truck now?

I put a 89-95 style bed on my 84 xtra cab and all the bolt attachment points except the last 2 on both rails closest to tailgate, but since most of the others worked I never worried about the last 2.
