so i bought this 83 yota today and the guy did some funky wiring on it and i don't know what to do. it isn't wanting to stay charged and there's a new battery in it and a new alternator so i have no headlights, and when i turn on the heater the stereo stops working ill post pics tomorrow of the wiring but any help or advice will be helpful till tomorrow.

 

check fuses and fusible links by the Battery. If o.k. disconnect battery and remove fuse holder and look at the connections underneath, also make sure the body grounds are hooked up.

 

Check your wiring on the steering column-look for broken / frayed wires-Toyota trucks are famous for this problem especially ones with tilt steering. Check your headlight / tailight relays, fuse box, charge light relay and your wiring going to the stereo. Get a service manual or go to your local Toyota dealer and get a copy of your truck's wiring diagram.

 

Make sure your battery is good..
