Does a Gen3 rear axle bolt up to a Gen2

Yes, I have searched but camp up with nothing difinitive.
My 1990 4Runner rear axle has some issues. i.e., leaking pinion and drivers side seal. I find myself refilling it too often. Last winter it had a loud whine to it. It calmed down come summer time.
But, I know it will come back this winter.
My question is will a Gen3 4Runner axle swap bolt into a Gen2?
What are the issues I will run into?
I found one locally for $400 with an elocker.
Thanks in advance.

Is it all together different?
What lines up?
How much it required to fit it?
I have never seen both axles side by side to compare the difference.
I would like the option of an elocker and rear discs would also be great.
I know it's a bit wider, but I really don't wheel. So, I'm not too concerned with stuffing the tire n the wheel well.
Can anybody point me in the right direction?
Thanks....
