Need FSM Temp gauge resistances '88-89 V6

Anyone with an 88-89 4Runner or 88 Truck FSM, I need resistance readings from the BE section (mine was BE-29 for a 4cyl 87). System is under Instrument Gauges/Warning lights

I have a tach.

It has to be 88-89 4Runner or 88 Truck V6

My 87 book says: IG-TU 135, TU-E 138, IG-E 273

We are trying to track down a temp gauge issue, but I only have an 87 FSM

Thanks!

Knowing what you said above, I've attached the '90 3VZ water temp gauge repair manual section on pdf if it helps...might.

That doesn't apply to my setup.

I think I have tracked down an 88 manual, which lists the same testing procedures as my 87 manual. The 87 and 88 gauges are also listed as the same part number by Toyota through 02/89.

The truck my gauges came from was 08/88 V6, VN66 Chassis.

I believe 92 Toy has the hard copy for his 88 4runner. As you said the downloadable 88 FSM from ttora only has the 4cyl info. Same values you have listed above. I don't see them being any different then the 4cyl though. Since the only thing really different is the Tach. IIRC the part number for the gauge sender is also the same between the v6 and 4cyl. 83420-20020

The FSM should cover both 4cyl and V6 in one repair manual.

I will talk to Jerry and see what he has.

the downloadable mentions nothing about the 3vz. Just the 22r, 22re and 22rte. aka RN chassis not the VN chassis.

Really? NO one on Yotatech has an FSM for an 88-89 4Runner V6?

Maybe people don't work on them anymore

isn't the 3vz a throwaway motor? I coulda swore Jery had one for that 4runner and not just the 92.

The 3VZ is a throwaway motor.

I swapped in a 5VZ, and changed clusters. Try and keep up here

hey where was the 5vz mentioned in this thread? Incomplete info will lead to incomplete answers. lol. Anyway, which sender are you using the one from the 3vz or the 5vz? Or are they the same ones? If the 5vz one is different the the 3vz sender you sure the sender is compatible with the 3vz cluster?

Josh....maybe hit up the Baller.....he has one of those fancy accounts, probably could access.

i searched and only found a repetitive link to something called "rapidshare" file sharing that costs $$$$ to download....if that is even the right one.

why do we have an 88 4runner with a 3vz and the 88 manual covers only the 4cyl? the 92 FSM does NOT differentiate between motors when it comes to the all inclusive cluster.......so for that year, at least, the stuff is the same.....if i am reading into this correctly.....only 1 section and 1 set of instructions.

BODY ELECTRICAL page 36 in my manual is the same as the pic above.

this is all i have from HAYNES.....the it directs you to wiring diagrams but no resistance values

You posted 89+ Truck 90+ 4Runner. They are completely different gauges, different wiring, etc.

That doesn't help, but I appreciate it!

I checked with Baller, he has nothing either. Apparently book is impossible to find!

That is EXACTLY what I needed. 88 V6 aka VZN FSM.

So now I know for 100% sure that 88 4CYL and 88 V6 gauges read the exact same.

Winning!
