1980 Problem Areas.
I am going this afternoon to look at a 1980 pick up with a 4.3L, and auto trans, running the RF1A T-Case.
Aside from rusted out floorboards, frame, and windshield, what other areas, and things should I look for?
The truck has not been started in a year.
Thanks, T.

I have seen 2 trucks of that era be rusted by the bed rails on top and entire bed for that matter. But you being in Louisana may not be a problem.
Do you guys in thatpart of the country have have bad rust issues?

Yes.. but not as bad as you northern guys.... on average a older yota might have some body and floorboard rust.... the frames on all three of none are fine, just some rust om the bed and two of the trucks have some rust on the floorboards

I bought the truck, if we can get the paper work by the DMV.
The frame, floor boards, and front fender are rust free.
The cab has the rust around the windshield, so I am sure I will be pulling the windshield, and cutting and welding in new metal there. The bed has rust around the panels, which is fine gonna put a tube bed on it anyway.
The front diff will get a complete rebuild. The knuckles have some surface rust, but not bad.
Will get a flat black primer job asap. I don't like camo paint jobs.
It has a Buick V6 and auto tranny running a RF1A tcase, and a 8274 winch.
Here are some pics.
