Wheel & Tire Suggestions for my '80 4x4

I have always kept my truck pretty much stock but I would love to have a second set of tires and wheels that were a little more aggressive that I could just bolt on and go. But still would be able to easily go back to the stock look. Let me know what you think.

x2 ^

I have 30x9.50 BFG All Terrains with black steel rims, but they're my compromise since it's a daily driver. If it were me I would go with black steelies and something a bit bigger and more aggressive than what I have, if they were going to be just for wheeling. Not too big though, so you don't make your stock gearing suck.

I agree with the km2's, but 33x10.5 on 4.5" backspacing fits with no suspension mods or body trimming. If they're offroad only, I don't think 33's would be too big.

Thanks for the comments. The closest this baby comes to off road is driving across the pasture of my farm. This is my kind of "eye candy". It's now a cruiser. I have other toys for offroad so whatever I do it needs to be OK for the hard road.

The km2's are great on the road, too. Your statement kinda contradicts your first post, though. If it never goes offroad, why spend the money on anything even slightly more aggressive?

You got it...Looks. I was a young man when this truck was first roaming the roads and trails. I had one new in 1980. It was the first new vehicle I bought. I actually traded in a Lancia Beta that I couldn't figure out how to do the maintenance on for this truck. It was the first 4x4 truck that the dealer had been able to get. It was sitting on the show room floor and I just had to have it. I went in to buy a Corolla but thought the quality was poor after a test drive. When I drove the truck I was hooked.

33x10.5 KM2s would look great on your truck, I sure like them on mine. Wheels are 3rd gen alloys I believe.

Now you're talking. I like this truck. Would those work with my stock suspension? BTW spent the summer of '73 in Santa Cruz. Surfed all around that area. Didn't even know what a great white shark was back in those days 'cause I had not seen Jaws.

Damn, yeah, that looks nice. I notice that a taller but not wider tire fills in the wheel wells on these trucks pretty nicely. I'm just afraid of making my truck any more unstable...

Those wheels came on 2nd and 3rd gen trucks. Changed when the Tacoma came.

Guess someone already said that they would fit. I'll be on the look out for those wheels.

I've got a 3 inch lift, but the springs are flate, so in reality it's probably just a tad higher than stock and they fit with room to spare. The truck is very stable. I think your truck looks like they would fit perfectly. Worst comes to worst, you get a slight shackle lift or add a leaf. Wish I had your wing windows by the way.

Love my wing windows since the truck does not have A/C. Helps when the temp is in the 90s here. I found some 4runner wheels 15x7 on craigslist that look a lot like yours. Could I put 33 x 10.5 on those?
