Backwards engine swap questions

I have a 1992 4-runner with the 3.0 V6. Lots of miles, low power, syncorizer wear in 1st gear. 160k+ miles

I have an oportunity to get a 3.4 V6 engine/transmission/transfer case from a 1999 very cheap - possibly free. But, I would have to do a double switch. My 1992 4 runner powertrain in the 1999 truck, then the 1999 truck powertrain in my 4runner.

I can take my time getting the new engine running in my 4-runner, but I have to get my old engine into the 1999 truck and running so that the owner can turn it back into Toyota. The truck is eligible for a factory buy-back at 150% of blue book due to frame rust. We are thinking that once the engine is running, that is pretty well it. I am not worried about getting the gages working.

I am going tomorrow to set the two trucks side by side to check it out, but I thought I would see if any of the gearheads here had any advice.

I can find lots of threads on putting the 3.4 in the 4 runner, but what about the 3.0 in the 1999 truck?

Let er rip.

if i were you, i would try to keep as many of the electrical and other accessories you dont need, connected to the engine while you tranfer it. your probably going to disconnect the fuel line, radiator, cruise control, ect. its up to you, but i would keep it all together as much as possible. then you have less to put back together and re-wire in the other truck.

Both trucks are manual transmission, so I should not ahve to worry about things there.
Neither have body lifts - can I leave the transmissions attached when I pull them?
I have never pulled the engine in my 1992, but i have done the head gaskets twice and pulled the trans 2x also. So I sort of know my way around.
It looks like there is plenty of information on this site and others concerning the 3.4 swap, but I would like to know what I am up against putting the 3.0 back into the 1999.

These are things I do not think i have to get working on the 1999
AC
Guage cluster
EGR crap. - I am in Ohio, so no CA worries for me.

Things I do have to on the 1999. I would like the engine compartment to look at least a little organized
Engine should start and run from the keyswitch.
Exhaust? not sure, but it will be minimal.
Intake/air filter
Alternator
Power steering
Driveline. I am hoping that the driveshafts will stay with the original vehicles and bolt up to the different transfer case.

Edit;
I suppose by looking at the buyback information, they are accepting them in any condition as long as they have not been salvaged or dismantled. So if i replace an engine with a different one, I am good to go.

That was my though. Keep the lump as big as possible when swapping it over.

I have definitely decided against the engine swap at this time, but I would like to get something off of this truck before he turns it in.

Let me throw this out there.

Both the 99 and the 92 have 5 spd manual trannys. Would those be a direct swap??

I think the 99 has a little larger clutch, but could the clutches stay with the engine and just swap the tranny and transfer case???

And the ac compressors - will the 99 fit my 92? On that one, I would not put one back onto the 99 - just take it off for use on my 92 later.
