94 toyota extra cab 4x4 3.0 Any good?
Hi eveybody, I'm brand new to 4x4s. I fish all the time, but due to low lake levels I need a 4x4 to launch now. I found a 1 owner 94 toyota extra cab with a 3.0, 5 speed. 178k miles. Will this launch and load a bass boat and tow it a little, >100 miles. Also are there and inheriant problems with this model. Price is 4500.00. Any info or advice would be greatly appreciated

unless the truck is super clean, the price is a little high IMO. I dont imagine that a bass boat weighs all the much, i would tow a boat with that truck if looks like it has been maintained well over the years. Not sure about common problems with this engine, i have not owned a yota with the 3.0.

Yes they are. im in san antonio. they are priced pretty high.
i own a 200k mile 1993 3.0 v6 and it runs like a champ. the v6 is the best motor to get for these trucks.
just make sure that the recalls have been performed and check when they were done. should be a headgasket and steering shaft recall. you should be good to go, also check for the usuall stuff rust maitence records...im sure you know what to look for.
also in the v6 listen for excessive valve lash....bad thing.
goodluck man and welcome to the wotld of toyotas!!!
BTW, you are asking if a toyota 4x4 is a good truck, on a toyota 4x4 forum....you are bound to find much bias in our responses lol

Just for a comparison, I bought my daughter's truck about a month ago - 1991 extended cab 5spd 3.0 V6 with 149,714 miles on it for $3600. Straight body, faded paint but other wise excellent condition and bone stock. This style Yota is hard to find and sell fast for a premium price here in SoCal. I would say the price I paid is a pretty good price and I saw several that were priced higher. $4500 is priced on the high side but if the truck is clean enough and since it is single owner, then it might be worth it.
