How do I change coolant temp sensor on 3.0

Guys, I pulled my CEL codes and have a 22, which is the coolant temp sensor. I am headed to Auto Zone to pick up a replacement but looking at the motor it seems kinda tough to get to.
Any suggestions? After I pull the plug off the top can I get a socket with an extension on it? Getting a wrench down on it seems like a nightmare.

thanks for the info.

Mark

You should be able to get a deep socket on the sensor but you may need a u-joint adapter between the socket and extension to make the angles work. They make things so much easier when space is tight like at the back of the 3.0.

If the socket won't fit around the plastic connector, try an open end crows foot:

Good point. I bought a set of those from Sears (Craftsman) years ago--don't know if they still have them, but worth a look.

guys, thanks for the info. I used a 19mm deep well socket and a 9" extension and it worked fine.
