Hi, Norcal. Need a mechanic
Hi everyone my name is Jerry, I enjoy all things Toyota, well mainly the 70's to mid 90's ones. Cars owned/own are an 82 Corolla, 85 Cressida which I put a 1jz into, 87 Toyota gangster van, 87 FX16 GTS, 86 Bmw CSI, 82 Supra and my semi deceased 94 4runner.
Anyways, I recently got back into a 2nd gen 4runner after trading my 635csi bmw for it. Enjoyed it for a month and then surprise hg went.... Called Toyota and no luck, HG was replaced in '03. I'm pretty bummed since I've always wanted to get another 4runner after my mom sold my dads 95 limited all white sr5.
So on with the dilemma. I don't want to get rid of it as I've grown attached to it in such a short amount of time and it would be a waste since I've only owned it for a month. Problem is I don't have the time or space to pull the engine out and store the truck in my driveway (I need the parking for my Supra since my neighborhood is "hood" and finding parking is a pain.). My three options are get a shop to fix it (hard to decide because of trust issues and workmanship), find someone kind enough to store and pull the engine for me so I can take the engine home to fix myself, bring it back to have said person reinstall it (obviously would pay for time and storage) OR sell the truck for a loss and hang myself.
If anyone knows a reputable shop that does good work, or can help out it would greatly be appreciated. I can get all the parts myself and have an ok amount to spend on labor. As with anyone, I'm trying to save as much money as possible. I'd really prefer my second option of having somebody pull/reinstall the engine and store my truck as I work on the engine. Thanks for taking the time to read and possibly consider.
Some pics of my cars, sadly none of the truck.
My old 1jz Cressida, it's now rotting away since my friend drove it and crashed it.....

damage after crash

The 635csi I traded for the truck. Plans for this were to put a 1.5jz. Never did it because I realized I never really liked the car. And I felt that it just would've been a wasted effort. The engine is now going into something else.

Finally the Supra.
