88 P/U Irregular Idle?

Hey guys, I have an 88 P/U with a 22re with low mileage on a rebuild. Noticed recently that when the truck is warm that its idling irregularly. It seems to change everytime I come to a stop. At one stop it will hold a consistent 750rpm then at the next it may be a consistent 900rpm or 1000. It never surges or drops but will just hold steady but will be different at every stop. If u give it some gas it will often drop down a bit. Truck is running fairly smooth but just curious what is causing this or if its something serious I should look into?

Thanks for any help
Steve

I was having this problem on my '95 recently. I set the ignition timing to factory spec and it stopped... Make sure your timing is correct.

Better yet, since you have a modded 22re (Stage 2 has more flow, correct?) adjust it by ear and see if that helps. First set it to factory spec, if that doesnt help, adjust it until it sounds right. Make sure you are jumpering TE1 and E1 in the diagnosis terminal and adjusting the idle speed screw while adjusting timing.

I didnt set my timing with a light. I did it "by ear"- adjusted until it sounded and felt right to me. I cant find my timing light so I did what I had to..

Clean the dashpot, see if that works. Did for me. My 22re would idle down to something other than 750 most of the time, dashpot cleaning worked.
