transfer case oil

changing my fluids in my tranny and tcase what color should my tcase fluid be?..it was almost a white brown color

well good thing im changing it then.. i almost i bought 80w90 instead of the recommended 75w90 because i have a ticking in first and 3rd gear and sometimes at idle im hoping this will help.
