I'm in the process of figuring out how to fix the saggy rear suspension in my truck. While searching, I stumbled across a thread referencing the extension blocks for the rear suspension for lifting the truck. My truck has non standard tires on it, and since it has 230k on the clock and was used for off roading, I'm wondering if I even have the stock rear suspension. Does anyone know of a site that would have pictures of the rear suspension installed on the truck, so I could compare them and see if mine is stock or not, before I try to figure out what I need to fix the rear suspension? Thanks in advance.

Ok, here are some pics. I hope it's ok that I posted them in the thread. I guess in reality, now that I've found that the back wheel well is lower than the front, it's not as bad. I initially just thought that I needed new rear shocks, it hits like a brick when it hit a bump, and since its about an inch or two low, I figured it was only the rear shocks. Now that I've looked at it closer, and searched, I'm still fairly confident that's what it needs.

Your sag isn't due to shocks. I'd be willing to bet it's worn out leaf springs. It's hitting like bricks because the springs are on the bottom overload spring.

 

Yup, factory leaf pack that has sagged over time. Typical for our rigs. Shocks are not the answer to fixing it.

Well, considering most of the body (not chassis) is rusted out, let's talk about inexpensive options here... Like....

 

Zuk mod, add-a-leaf or a fresh set of spring packs will get you back in fighting shape.

I think add-a-leaf is cheapest at $30 and new spring packs run around $200. Zuk mod will vary a bit depending on what springs you use..

75 for 2 coils..... http://gearinstalls.com/coilinfo.htm probably recommend the 12x125 pound rated coils for you.....giving you about 3 inches. The 14"x 125 will give you about 4~4.5" lift if you like that. You will love the SOFT ride Super easy install. I rate it 1 banana. There's about 10 links in the lower left of my website to help charge you up.
Best to cut the upper steel stopper to about 1 inch in length like this....

Well, it's cheaper and effective! Like mentioned above new leaf packs could run you $200 & up plus new hardware, bushings, etc.

 

I gotcha, so basically adding the Zuk spring makes the leaf springs effectively brand new again...?
