I have the 1994 3.0. When the mechanic changed the after market fuel filter he did not put back the filter's bracket. It holds the filter to the frame on the passenger side. I told him the bracket is missing, he check and ordered a new Toyota bracket/filter kit. The sound of the muffler was normal.

After replacing the after market filter with the new Toyota filter the muffler has a continuous sound that was not heard of before the change. Sounds like a loud hum or some air passing.

Has anyone had this change (or additional sound) in sound of the muffler after replacing the fuel filter?

It can't possibly have anything to do with the new fuel filter. Something else must've happened. Or you're just imagining it...

 

I was hoping it was my imagination. I called my wife to the car and she notice immediately the new sound.

A hollow sound from the "muffler", maybe. It's probably a new problem. I should of left the first fuel filter without the bracket on. Back to the mechanic to see what he says.

 

I had a similar experience with my 3VZE once. Ended up being a cracked piston.

i have a 22re in my 1994.5 toyota 4*4 lol it dnt smoke when i start it but it smokes bad after a min of running... i have like no power... i have 228,000 i dont knw why.. maybe you could help
