22RE Had a bad waterpump, now smokes white only when warm and no cab heat.

So a few days ago I had the waterpump go out on me. The bearing went out of the hub. I might have got it a bit hot..... it died on me and would not restart.

I just replaced the pump, I started it up and it ran great. I took it out for a spin. Got it warm. It ran like it should had all of its power back. When I got back to the house it was idleing low and started to smoke white. Then it died and I couldnt get it restarted. Let it cool down. Then it started again and ran fine. I bled the cooling system as best i could. Checked the thermostat, it is working right. Let it get nice and warm again and it started smokeing white again.

So what is going on. it seems to have all of its power. So when it gets warm it seems the coolant is making its way into the combustion chamber. When it was running right my temp gauge would go way up after start up then the thermostat would open then the gauge would drop down to 1/4 of the gauge. Now I start it up it goes up to about 1/4 and stays there. Its not acting the same as it was before the waterpump went.

Also the heater core lines are nice and warm but I now have no heat blowing from my vent? This all happened at once.

Also did a head gasket about 3000 miles ago. oil looks good.

Thanks, Brant

I have similar issues...new headgasket, thermostat, heater core, heater control valve. Warm heater core hoses but no cab heat! Stumped.

Had similar issues on a guys 22r. Initially I thought the heater core was plugged but it turned out it failed and I had to replace it.
Mighty try to burp the system and see what happens.

Sounds to me like it got hot and popped the head gasket. Hot heater lines and no heat from the vent points to an air pocket in the heater core.

ok so you did a HG and then later your water pump went, you overheated the motor and it wuit running. Now you get white smoke after the motor gets warmed up. I would say you cooked the head this time. I had a head crack between the valve seats and it only caused a problem once the motor was warm and the crack expanded.

As far as no heat in the cab... I'd say your heater core was on its way out anyway and blowing a HG (twice now I believe) sent enough stuff through the core that plugged it up.

Have you checked the plugs yet, to see if any are burning coolant?
