losing power but not dead

i have a 1983 toyota and i get a heavy draw on the electrical system i have looked and checked every connector in the truck nothing , i have also checked each component and they work the only time i really have problems is when i turn my lights on , it gose away and then it comes back with a vengence not sure what to do anymore HELP please any ideas would be a big help

What exactly happens? It has a draw when sitting overnight or when running? The truck dies or what?

when the truck is running the lites will flicker and the alt will stop charging turn signals will stop working and at times it will die and then if i jump start it of a good battery it will run fine

Sounds like the alternator is on its way out and falls on it's face under load.
