700r4 or 4L60?

I just bought my 4.3L V6 and I am trying to find a tranny. I am not a Chevy tranny guru so I was hoping someone could help me.

Is there a difference between the 700r4 and the 4L60 (no E)? If so what is it?
Is there a difference between a 2x4 tranny vs a 4x4 tranny?

I plan on using the Advance Adapter to mate it up with the Toyota TCase.

Any help will be appreciated

Leon

Nope. in 1992 they changed the designation to 4L60. it was the exact same transmission. in '93 they added the electronic controls, and made it the 4L60E.

I have the AA 700r4 adapter between my 4L60 and toyota gear-driven tcase.
