BE SAFE when working on your Toyota! Please read this post

this will be a quick but important post--at least i think so..

This has been bothering me for some time--but when i was replacing the front main seal on my truck i almost killed myself.

Here is how.....

with the front end of the truck jacked up and well seated in jackstands--I tore apart the front half of the motor and was rotating the motor with a large breaker bar. it was hard to rotate and i just chalked it up to being a new motor with the plugs still in. Finally i took a break and can you imgine what i saw?? The truck was moments away from falling off the jackstands and smashing me against the garage wall.

I kept the truck in gear (Its manual) and only chalked the rear side of the tires!!! as i was turning the motor and checking the timing belt marks it was slowly moving forward.......

Lesson learned--somtimes being tough and stubborn can get you killed. When you are having issues--see what is happening and then continue on.....

Thanks

appreciate the sentiment-sometimes we get so wrapped up in what we are doing we fail to step back and see the whole picture. I've certainly done it.
