Krawlinn87's '87 4Runner Build-up Thread
Well it's been a little over a year since I rebuilt my 22re and after a lot of thinking, it's time to make my 4Runner the way I want it. I originally posted this in the engine swap area but now that I'm doing more than just the engine, I thought it would be good update my build thread and have everything in one place.
My plans over the next 4 months are the following:
350 TBI
700R4
NP208 w/ Slip Yoke Eliminator
Dana 44 Front Axle (will decide on gears once I find the right tires)
Cross Over Steering
2.25 Body Lift
Rear Springs Up Front
F150 or Chevy 63's In The Rear
I plan to do the fab work myself except for ordering the Advance Adaptor bolt-in motor mounts. Having all the knowledge from this site and the many others who have upgraded their rigs, the major headache (guessing, measuring, etc) is out of the way - THANK YOU! I hope to be able to answer any question you may have and will do what I can to help another member out.

I've been on vacation since the 23rd of December and had a few things to finish up around the house and once those were complete - it was time to get to work on the Toyota. Now that the 30th, I haven't completed as much as I had hoped for, but progress is being made.

And here's the project I finished at the house. It took a little over 6 weeks but I think turned out great.

I unbolted the 6 bolts on top of the A-arms and the 2 bolts on the torsion bars - Everything else was burned off. I did underestimate the amount of work it took to cut the IFS off - having to reach around everything to get the torch to fit and the hours of grinding - It was a tiring job

Dash was removed and the factory harness exposed (way too may wires)

The start of the Toyota scrap pile

AA motor mounts

A little organizing - Hopefully the family is up for a trip to Big Bear this weekend so the progress will start again on Sunday afternoon

Pulled the engine, harness and computer from this beast - 1992 Buick Regal. Other than 19 years of having leaking valve covers (block covered in 3 inches of caked oil), the engine ran good and the harness was unmolested. I'm in the car $150 after selling it to Pick-A-Part which isn't too bad for all I got.

TBI 350 loom - labeled and ready to cut out the unnecessary wires

350 heads - tanked, machined and valves lapped

I found the hard to find 1.5x.156 DOM tubing - just over 3 feet for $10. I only need 8 inches but I found it in the scrap pile
