Camo31"x10.50"s 1992 4runner Build up Thread
created this buildup thread to document my own progress.
Already have a build thread going on for my 3VZ-E V6 in the runner..one of these days i believe that thread will be merged with this one, if not i'll post a link in my Sig for it!
First mod that will be happening is the addition of some 16" wheels(when i find some.......)and 285/75R16 Toyo M/T's...it's a step down in width from the BFG's that are on it now, but looks to be a step up in Height? My Toyo's are about 2" taller than my BFG's lol (they're 33x12.50's)
plans so far.
1.get it running good...top priority.
2.get the tires and wheels mounted and such.
3.replace CV's and front end "stuff"...I.E. Ball joints, TRE's, steering stabilizer.
4.get new shocks all the way around...not wanting to skimp out here..wanting to go Adjustable Rancho's...any ideas?
5.ARMOR!!!! this will probably come around christmas time, Badland Basher tube front, and maybe a 4xInnovations rear...wanting to get a pair of sliders custom made to KINDA help with getting into the truck.
6. Rear Disc's and Full Floater conversion so i can use Celica Supra calipers to retain the E-Brake.
7. Various Cosmetic things...as well as a new paint job (eventually).
so far that's all i've got for now..more things will come to mind as i progress through this build for sure...a 3.4 swap (or a V8...maybe) is inevitable.
something else that is also inevitable..going to 35's lol
and i'm also really thinking about trying the SupraLux swap...if ya don't know what it is..search it..takes an 8"supra rear diff and puts it up front..LOTS stronger..able to withstand V8 4wheel burnouts...if i do THAT...then i might just up the tire size to 36's or 37's...V8+5.29's+37's= a very capable rig (in my opinion) as i will not be doing much of a lift to fit the larger tires..and i'll have an LSD in the front and i want to be locked in the rear (elocker.)
i'll prolly be posting some random rig shots in this thread as well..atleast until i can get some progress shots

got about $1400 in financial aid refunds a couple weeks ago...so some mods and upgrades are in the works (as soon as i get a new 4.56 rear diff....)
things that NEED to be done.
1.upgrade alternator and battery wiring.
2.new driverside CV
3. Alignment...
4. rear diff and axle bearings and seals..
5. wiring to be run for my sound system.
6. MANUAL HUBS!
7. Passenger side TRE's...
8. MAYBE repack my bearings...wouldn't hurt but idk if i wanna do that now or save it for when i do the CV's.
i'm thinking if i put the manual hubs on....then i can make my cv's last a bit longer because they won't be constantly rotating.
i'm going to try to find a junkyard MR2 alternator and replace the brushes and such inside it to "rebuild" it.
do the "big 3" upgrade, and upgrade the rest of my battery wiring and such......whenever i use anything electrical..i can watch my battery gauge "twitch" or go down about 1/4".....after this i'm hoping i will be without electrical problems.
i'm going to be running my wires for my amp too, and buying an amp lol...probably 1000-1800W amp.
hopefully i can have my truck somewhat reliable again, and have some GOOD sound
just thought i should update this dude since i haven't in a while lol
Just my freaking luck.....i'm in need of a 4.56 rear diff, but i find a set of 5.29's with rear detroit for $400(for the pair).....fml..i'm not ready to go 35's (gas mileage) so i'm passing them up....if anyone wants em, they're in the Tulsa,OK craigslist. (Date, 4/13/11)
I need to get this thing as reliable as possible, i'm going to be pipelining again this summer so i can't have an unreliable vehicle.(i have a ford ranger as backup though..lol)
Over the summer i'm going to be changing all of the fluids as well, might go with RedLine idk yet.
Diff breathers are coming as well.
Bumpers might come this summer...winch will probably wait though. Sliders are not going to go on the rig unless i get into the type of wheeling where i need them.
I need to fix up my Hi-Lift i found in an old shed lol
going to be switching wheels and tires if i can manage it this summer...these 16" aluminum wheels weigh alot more than my Buddies Stock 20's on his Dodge.....and these LR E tires are heavy as hell....

well. the time has come, the 4runner is getting set to the side, and i'm getting a 2001 dodge diesel, 4x4, 6speed. (monday actually, Feb 13th.)
nothing is wrong with the 4runner, just wantin another cummins. 4runner will be sat at my grandparents most likely, and i will likely fix a few small things (might even fix my cam seals...dang oil leaks) and sell it whenever i can, i have a buddy at work that badly needs a good vehicle, so he gets first dibs on it.
setting the price at $4000, if anyone is interested you can email me at Hardenk@nsuok.edu
thanks! and i will be back to the toyota world, i promise
