Ordering a lift kit from Toytec (finally)

Well Im finally gonna send an order in and now they dont carry the shocks I finally decided on. I can no longer get the comfort shocks from ome. The guy at Toytec said they use the Nitro sport 60027 in the rear and 9004 in the front. From all the reading I did I thought the comforts sounded good. I was thinking of going with the 881 and the 906 springs with no top plate. I guess I will go with the sport shocks and hope there not to stiff. What do you guys think of this lift? The guy on the phone said I should go with the top plate to even it out. From what I saw on this site is that the 881/906 was level. I have a 2002 SR5 with 265/75 Revos and only whant about a 2 to 2 1/2 inch lift.

Did they say why the comfort shocks aren't available anymore?


Also, if you're going with the 906 in the rear, then definately leave the top plates off the front. The 881's are a good match to the 906's by themselves. I personally would go 881F/890R and still not do top plates spacers...I like rake though.

No he didnt say why just that they don't carry them any more. How is the ride with the 890's vs the 906? Big diff. or just slightly stiffer?

I wouldn't be the one to say, since I don't run OME suspension. The 890's have more load capacity for sure....from all my research, I think they are a little stiffer....but not enough to make them uncomfortable. I've never once heard anyone complain about 890's being too stiff.

However if you really just want 2.5" of lift at most, the 881/906 combo is going to be perfect for you. You'll get 2-2.5" from the 881's up front without a spacer, about 2.5" from the 906's, and about 3" from the 890's.

im in the same boat. i thot i wanted the 890 in the rear but from reading the forum im thinking i want the 906 instead. im wanting to run 265/75/16 with a slight lift to get rid of my sag.

will the 881 with no top plate and 890 clear 285/75/16s? its a 1997 runner

Clearing 285s will work with about 2" of lift on a 3rd gen 4Runner for street driving. Wheeling it will take some trimming and more lift.

hmm...so the toytec 3" lift springs and the 890s will clear 285/75?.....interesting

just a little heads up.. some people say the 906's are more prone to sag over time where as the others are not. I myself opted for the medium duty ome coils so I don't know from personal experience how the lighter duty stuff is with ride quality but I know most people who have it are generally happy. As wabbit said, clearing 285's (close to 33's) is fairly easy with 2" for every day driving. As far as wheeling, better trim and/or get more lift. Rubbing also has a lot to do with aftermarket wheels. Keep your stockers and you should be fine or find wheels with similar specs. For example, I have 3" and 285/70-17's with aftermarket wheels. At turned full lock (stuff) I rub. Even when driving everyday I rub at a certain point on level ground. That is due to the wider tires (285/70) and offset of wheels. Hope this helps

I was wondering if the 906 would sag after a few years. From what I read the 890 could give me an inch rake with the 881 up front. I am not to crazy about that look. Just want it level.

Looked at your link and I think I want to stay with a 2" lift. I suppose I have to go with the 881 in front and the 906 in the rear. I just hope it will be level.

I just measured my stance now and I am at 34 1/4 in back and 34 in front.

Yeah, you could. But they won't ride very good, because they'll be out of their optimal range. They also might not last very long. Better to just get the OME's....they're matched to work with the springs and you'll be WAY happier doing it all at once.

My stock limited is 34.5" front 35.25" rear. All the shocks struts are new, with new rear recalled coils. This is the outside bottom of the limited fender trim, to the ground. Does this mean if I get the new front stock coils it would even out? I didnt even notice till today, but I got the opposite sag as everyone else. haha Whats the ride height of the stock 99 tall coils with the same scenario? Seems 3/4" is a large difference from front to rear.

Either way, I plan to go with toytec as the original poster, as soon as the wallet allows.

after much consideration and research i think im going with the 881/906 combo. i really just want to run a 265/75 tire and a slight lift. i think he 890 in the rear will give me too much rake. any1 interested in some new 890 coils?

I just ordered my lift about a month ago from Toytec. Before you order, email them and tell them you are about to order and ask for a coupon code.

I saw that someone else did this on another forum, so I did it and Doug sent me a 5% off code. Not much, but saved me about $50.

Orderd on the 1st. Cant wait till its here. Going to do the install myself just hope the rear top nuts arnt rusted on to bad.
