Newbie questions

Well the 3.0 in my 92 pickup is still givin' er' at 345,279 but I think the auto transmission is going. when I accelerate I'm getting a vibration that increases with speed. When I let off the accelerator the vibration disappears..

That being said, I've been thinking about doing an engine swap for a while now and figure it might be time to start taking this idea seriously.

I've got a 22RE with about 210,000 on it sitting in my old 87' with a standard tranny and good transfer case, needs a clutch :\ but other than that it ran like a dream.

I'm thinking rebuild the 22RE, get a new clutch and do the swap OR purchase a 3.4 from somewhere (new, used?) and do that swap...

any input on this idea would be appreciated, advice, criticism, random comments anything please

Does it disappear completely when you let off the gas?

Does the tranny act strangely? Are you sure it's not driveline vibration?

I'm with you.

So are you thinkin of replacing the 3.0 because of the mileage? I'd go with a 3.4 if it's an option. Or why not rebuild your 3.0?
