I have a 92 p/u 4cyl. It backfires, stalls, and sluggish/chuggy while accelerating. Any ideas?

 

Try checking the dist cap, rotor ,wires, plugs. The regular tune up stuff.

 

a little more info would be nice. Did you recently do any work on it? How many miles? Did you just buy it or did it just start happening after X amount of time of owning it?

The timing is probably off, either/both ignition or cam.

 

Sounds like you have a problem somewhere. That's my idea.
