Gearing/Diagnosis Help --tacoma
I'm driving a 96' Tacoma 4x4, 3.4L V6 with an automatic tranny. I've installed a 2.5" coil spacer in the front and I'm running 32 x 11.5" BFG M/T's.
I installed the tires about 6 months ago, replacing 30" BFG A/T's. Immediately I could feel a significant difference in the acceleration...my gearing was significantly off. Since then my acceleration has grown even worse.
I have to pull out of my driveway on a slight incline onto a road with a 45mph speed limit and a blind corner. Acceleration with my new tires has been iffy on the incline anyway but last week I took off of from my house without letting my truck warm up for it's normal 5 minutes and it practically bogged in 1st gear.
Any chance someone with more Tacoma knowledge can give me a semi-accurate diagnosis with that info? I don't think it has anything to do with it but my CV boots are blown on both sides in the front. (It's been like that for about 6 weeks...I have the replacements, just need to get around to doing it.)
Other than that, the truck has always run fine. Semi recently had a full tune up (timing belt and spark plug, wires, filters, etc.) The only problem I've ever had was a transmission leak while pulling a small trailer with my old tires. As soon as I un-hitched the trailer the leak stopped and the tranny fluid never got dangerously low. It's been almost a year since then with no transmission problems or leakage.
First post of mine but I've been a guest reader for a while. Great site.
