Hey, so coming home today, up the long single lane road and my neighbor backs out of his driveway and continues down without looking. By the time I realized he didn't see me... all I could do is dive into the ditch. Avoided any cab damage, but the nincompoop did hit the bed. Most of the force went into the tire, so it's not as bad as it could have been. Question is do you think a body shop can fix this or should I just track down a bed at the junkyard.

 

seems like an easy fix. his insurance is covering it right?
personally I would take the $$ and get some sliders and leave the body damage

 

Hammer it out a little and call it good, thats all i would do

 

let the neighbor (or rather the neighbor's insurance provider) deal with it; that's what I'd do

 

Make him pay. Get sliders. Nice tires.

 

He wants to do it under the table, which is fine with me... Told me to get an estimate and he'd pay for it. Just wish I had the money for the sliders with the flare in the back and woulda avoided this. I like the idea of just pocketing money+sliders, but that dent is going to drive my OCD up the wall. Just was curious if anyone had any idea of what it'll cost to fix before I mess around with body shops.

Thanks Bigblue, I do like the claws a lot. They are awesome in the winter, it is pretty close to impossible to hydroplane them. Hit a flooded road at 40 mph and they shed water insanely well. Never been disappointed with them in the mud either

Duuuude, sliders are cheap just depends on what you want.

I wish the claws were siped, 'cause they suck on icy snow pack! I'm almost tempted to get bias plys next time...

I dont know about the under the table issue.....just make sure you have a witness with you everything you talk to your neighbor just incase you find yourself in court......that damage is at least $1200....

ok so it wasnt my neighbor that hit me, it was a 16yr old punk kid in a 89 Jetta who was infront of me in the Taco Bell DRIVE THRU the day after xmas at night who decided to BACK OUT... and backed right into my B pillar. I'm just so happy he missed the door and the jam.. phew!

I'd gone easy on the punk if he didnt get out of his crappy car and tell me everything was ok he just broke his tailight.. LIKE I CARE????? then proceeded to tell me he didnt do any dmg to my truck? YOU KIDDING??? Didnt have proof of insurance in his car either. He's lucky he gave me a real phone number. Called him up later that evening and he acted like he forgot what had happened 2 hours after hitting me... sigh... 30 minutes later i get insurnace info... 1wk later his insurance contacts me and has me explain the situation, send a diagram of the drive thru (they didnt get how he backed up and hit my side) then come to find out the mother of the punk said it was my fault? Their insurance agent laughed (With me) .. lol

Anyway

$1100 dent... Hindsight? I would of not taken it to their prefered autobody shop for the estimate cuz i took it other places after the fact and they all quoted me $1300 =p

 

I would just go through his insurance unless he is willing pay you out nicely. That dent isn't too bad, it's an old truck anyways I would just take the money and put it toward something else like headers or anything you need to fix.

 

Take it to a body shop and get a quote. Give the quote to your neighbor. hell give you mad wads of cash then you hammer out the dent and buy sliders. Dents are like scars, each one has a story, and if you plan on wheelin that thing, dents are gonna come whether you like it or not.

 

Fiberglass Bedsides!!!! You can always pocket the cash and get your own dent removing tool if you don't want to spend the big bucks at the shop.

 

j/y and c/l beds are hard to find. I spent 6 months trying to find one local. finially found one on c/l for 250 and as a plus it was the same color red faded to pink. my dent was way worse than yours and got part of the cab also.
yours looks like it can be pulled/beaten out pretty easy.

 

Also, make sure that the tire and hub aren't bent.
