Anyone replaced lower rubber boot? Need ideas!

Hello! I have an 81' 4X4 and doing some restoring.....Does anyone know who makes an aftermarket shifter boot (the lower rubber one) This is a two piece boot, I'm looking to replace the front tranny one. Dealer lists it at about $125.00! Rediculous!! Would love to modify an aftermarket one if available. Anyone been there and done that?

You can't be talking about these?...... http://www.marlincrawler.com/transmi...t-handle-boots

If you mean the cover that goes over both shifters in the cab, most people find a later model Toy with one still in good shape and make it fit their truck. But I guess when I think of the "lower" rubber one, the link is what I think of. You can try junkyards and the classified sections of sites like this one.

83..... I wished that was the boot I was looking for. The one I have in my 1981 is a 2-piece rubber boot, it's the lower front one that goes under the fake leather boot. It is screwed down by a metal plate that secures it along with the rear transfer case rubber boot. I was just hoping that someone knew of one that could be modified to fit. Thanks for the link to the other!

Yeah it's all about trying & testing. Find a nice one at a junkyard and see if it'll fit. Probably have to do some smalls mods but it shouldn't be hard.
