Wetbehindears 89 4Runner Build-Up Thread

Hello Everyone,
Since we are really starting to get into this truck, I figured it was time to start a Build-Up Thread. If anything, it will help me keep track of when and what we worked on.
How we got here:
Our son turned 15 in Feb 2010 and well.... it was time to start thinking about his first car. My wife and I agreed that we were not going to throw him in a 400hp car and wait for a phone call...... from either the hospital or jail.
BUT... we also were not going to stick him in some POS compact...who wants that for their first car. What could be more fun than a 4x4 that you can take the top off, so we started shopping around, and came across a 1rst Gen Runner.
The Truck:
We went and looked at about 4 trucks (which is odd because 1rst Gens are hard to find in south Texas) before we found the one we liked. Turned out to be a 1989 3.slow 4Runner SR5 Manual White/Grey w/ 130,000 miles. The truck wasn't in the best of condition, but for around here for the price, we decided to go for it.
The Good: Rust Free and it was STOCK... Besides some 97ish Tacoma rims, the truck was Stock.. no mods, OEM stereo, no lift, and the AC even works good... Which from past experience is how I like to start. Also the owner had good paperwork on the truck. Original Invoice, Window Sticker (see below), good paper trail.
The Bad: The truck looked as if it was someones baby at one time, and then was handed down (which it had been) and the next owner just fixed what he "had" to. The owner we bought it from was not even driving the truck because it would not pass emissions, and he had not a clue on how to fix it. Front end needs some work, Engine leaks from.. well you name it. Sag in rear. Some light body damage from trees during the Hurricane here in Houston.
The Plan: To build a ~ reliable truck for our son to drive to school for the next 3 years. This one is going to be a "mall crawler" to start and then we will see how much he gets into it.
So Heres What we Started With:

Here is how she looked the day we brought her home.. THE FIRST THING WE DID WAS TAKE OF THOSE DEER HEAD STICKERS!!
